Coders/DBA's: join MisesDev to improve Mises.org

October 31, 2009 7:44 PM by David Veksler

A few weeks ago, I set up community@mises.org to handle all Mises Community support requests. Emails to this address go to a group of volunteers who offer their time to keep the site running smoothly. This has been a tremendous help to me, as it gives me time to focus on adding site functionality.

I want to apply the same idea towards new functionality for Mises.org. I've created code@mises.org the MisesDev group as a list for designers, programmers, and database developers who would like to volunteer their time towards improving Mises.org. Requests for new features (as well as bug reports) will be sent to this list so the recipients can hash them out and complete them. (Developing the infrastructure to handle distributed development and content distribution is an important ongoing project for us.)

If you have web design, programming or database development skills and would like to volunteer towards Mises.org, comment below to join the list.

Update: join the Google Group here: http://groups.google.com/group/misesdev/

(An archive of tasks needing to the done is on the TODO Wiki.)

Mises.org needs database administrator help

October 7, 2009 10:48 PM by David Veksler

The popularity of Mises.org has been skyrocketing over the last several years, and with it, so has the load on the software and hardware running this site. While we've held up the hardware and website part of it, we've never had a database professional to take a good look at the data behind Mises.org. If you're a Sql Server expert and would like to help me rewrite some very tricky SQL queries at the heart of Mises.org, please contact me. One day, Jeff Tucker will write an epic article about all this - this is your chance to be part of the story.

Download the latest torrents of Mises.org

July 24, 2009 11:04 PM by David Veksler

Brand new torrents containing all the content on Mises.org are now available for download, as part of the continuous effort to open-source Mises.org. (Content on Mises.org is available under the Creative Commons license to redistribute and republish anywhere.)

The people behind the Mises Institute are doing their best to produce great content - now it is up to you to spread the message of liberty, property, and peace around the world - to immortalize the idea of freedom, beyond the ability of anyone to silence them.

Download the multimedia archives (80GB), books (7GB), journals (2.3GB), PDFs (290MB), the Mises Blog (1GB), ReasonPapers (1.5 GB), and LibertarianPapers (10MB). (The torrents are quite large, but most bittorent clients will let you download specific files in the torrent, if you don't want to download everything.)

If you downloaded an old torrent, remove the ,torrent file and download the new one to the same location to update your files to the latest version.

You will need a bittorrent client if you don't already have one. For Windows, get uTorrent or Vuze for Mac/Windows.
