Re: Boundaries of Order

December 1, 2009 3:50 PM by Jeffrey Tucker (Archive)

Said here: Butler Shaffer's Boundaries of Order "is the single most important book of the 21st century (so far). Anyone interested in reading (or re-reading) this book, and then having a full blown discussion of it at the end of the month? I read it about 6 months ago and have been meaning to give it another read ever since."

Agreed, Boundaries of Order is a must read.

Getting to see Shaffer speak is the main reason I'm flying out to Pheonix for Freedom Summit this weekend. Can't wait to get my copy signed!

Interesting...I just picked up the book, began reading, set it down, then immediately received an email notice about this post.

    Yes, I'm interested.

Is this book available in German language? If not, does anyone know if there are plans for a translation?

I agree - this is an extremely important and valuable book. It explores the roots of property in animal behavior--how each animal has an understanding of the property rights within its own species, because this enables them to live with minimal intraspecies violence while they all pursue the same resources.

Shaffer also illustrates the free market with parallels from fields as diverse as quantum mechanics, chaos theory and biological evolution.

This is one of the most important books of the century, and reading it turned Shaffer into one of my favorite LRC columnists.
