Coders/DBA's: join MisesDev to improve Mises.org
A few weeks ago, I set up community@mises.org to handle all Mises Community support requests. Emails to this address go to a group of volunteers who offer their time to keep the site running smoothly. This has been a tremendous help to me, as it gives me time to focus on adding site functionality.
I want to apply the same idea towards new functionality for Mises.org. I've created code@mises.org the MisesDev group as a list for designers, programmers, and database developers who would like to volunteer their time towards improving Mises.org. Requests for new features (as well as bug reports) will be sent to this list so the recipients can hash them out and complete them. (Developing the infrastructure to handle distributed development and content distribution is an important ongoing project for us.)
If you have web design, programming or database development skills and would like to volunteer towards Mises.org, comment below to join the list.

I'm going to help you right off the bat.
You have the following hyperlink: mailto://code@mises.org. That's incorrect. If someone clicks that and sends an e-mail to the address that is filled out in their "To:" field, the mail will bounce back.
You want to remove the forward slashes. The link should be: mailto:code@mises.org. (You also have the same coding error in your community mail link.)
Edit your "a href" tags. If you need any help, you have my e-mail.

What type technology are you using i.e. Microsoft or Open Source. Are you hosting the site? What type of server is the site running on? I am primarily a Database Admin with some programming skills.

I'm a programmer. While I don't have much experience with .Net I'm well versed in programming otherwise and I'm looking to gain some .Net experience. Most your projects look like you are migrating from ASP to .Net which I'd be more than happy to help with. What do I need to do to join the list, or will you pull my email from this post?

In regards to reducing your bandwidth you might want to look around for some of the things they have done at StackOverflow (compression, caching, changing config for search bots etc..). Another idea, perhaps you could put the content on archive.org? You may also check out "I Cringley's Nerd TV", he did something to lower the cost of bandwidth, not sure if he ever made it clear however as to exactly how he handled that.

I'm out of date now on programming skills but would like to personally thank all the volunteers. This is very encouraging. The raging battle of left and right and class envy is very troubling and its nice to see so many who realize its actually a battle between all of us vs the ugly expanding power of the State.
I'm not paranoid but have been wondering lately if the predator drones are only being used overseas... my guess is that we may have unseen observers in the sky. Are drones built to avoid radar detection like the stealth bomber?
I'm 66 and started programming before DOS on mainframes (operating system was on cards),,, can you even imagine? through imaging, networking and distributed systems.

I have experience setting up and using CVS a repository. Soon I will set up Subversion. This is essential if many of us are going to code simultaneously.
Alas, my coding experience does not include .Net, but how hard can it be? I know Java and C which are somewhat similar...
I also have experience using MS-SQL 2000, and coding Postgres, MySQL and Oracle PLSQL. This could be useful for your backup needs.
For years I have been installing and administering Unix/Linux machines, so can do shell programming as well.
Last but not least, I think that distributing all Mises content via torrents would be quite easy to set up.
