Richard Ebeling at Northwood University

August 17, 2009 1:02 PM by Richard Ebeling (Archive)

I am happy to report that I have recently accepted a new academic position as professor of economics at Northwood University in Midland Michigan.

Northwood has issued a press release about my appointment.

Northwood University is a private institution of higher learning dedicated to the principles of individual liberty, the free market, and limited government.

It's emphasis is on preparing young men and women in economics and business to be the entrepreneurs and business leaders of the future.

Among the courses that I will be regularly teaching is one on Austrian Economics.

I have long known about Northwood. It has an outstanding reputation in terms of both its excellent faculty and student body.

I am delighted to be associated with a university that both offers an exceptionally quality education and is devoted to the ideas an ideals of the free society that, unfortunately, is now under serious attack by America's elitist social engineers.

My new contact information is:

Dr. Richard Ebeling
Department of Economics

Congratulations. I am dumbstruck that there remains a university somewhere, anywhere, that is not an explicit enemy of reason and the classically liberal society, let alone one that actually embraces liberty.

Congrats to Northwood! I hope they appreciate the man they are getting.

What does this mean for his association with the American Institute for Economic Research? I had hoped he would guide them toward Austrian economics while there. What little contact I had with the institute made clear to me that they were too much in love with the power of the state to control the economy, especially regarding energy issues. Did he find the effort futile, I wonder?

That is fantastic. I am conflicted, as a GVSU graduate, I always relish it when GVSU pounds Northwood in football. The economics at GVSU, however, is lacking sometimes.

    Argh...

    Dr. Ebeling

We have only met twice but I have followed your career since we first met in Denver in the 1980's and have always been impressed with your enthusiasm, courage, and very great knowledge of economics. You are an intellectual warrior who frequently placed yourself in the eye of the storm. And locating in Midland, Michigan you have done so again. Northwood is lucky to have such a distinguished professor.

Best of luck in your new endeavor.

Congratulations. Let me know if they need a pro-market English or Humanities professor there.
