Very nice! But...
I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I'm guessing that most (if not all) of the people who read The Freeman already know about Mises.org. What would be awesome would be to see an ad in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, or Washington Post.

I have to agree; it's a nice ad, but putting it in the Freemen is preaching to the converted. Ad money would be better spent in a mainstream publication. For example, an ad in the WSJ or NYT could ask if the reader wants to know the REAL story behind the current crisis, and then direct them to Mises.org's Bailout Reader as a start.

I have to agree with Ron & Darren. The ad should be placed in mainstream publications, where you are likely to find those that are interested in topics discussed at mises.org.
WSJ is a good choice, Fortune, Forbes, Barrons, etc. are good choices.

Yes it's actually not that big of a deal. Freeman readers are usually Misesians

Why not start an ad contribution campaign? "I'd pay a dollar for that"!

The Mises Institute no doubt receives hundreds of suggestions per day as to things it should be doing--amazing, given what they accomplish on such a small staff and modest budget. Instead of suggesting that they spend thousands more bucks on an ad, it might be more productive to donate resources to them to help make this happen. I just donated $250 to Mises Institute 60 seconds ago. It's my favorite cause. I suggest others with an opinion do the same.

Stephen,
Don't take it personally. These are just suggestions, not criticisms. Remember, most folks posting on mises blog are well wishes of the institute. Your suggestion is a good one, I am sure people will contribute based on their ability and their commitment level to the institute.
BTW, are the contributions to LvMI tax deductible?

Nice ad. Just one tiny bug: "Come see what gives Mises.org, the website of the Ludwig von Mises Institute (founded 1982) its fame" should be "Come see what gives Mises.org, the website of the Ludwig von Mises Institute (founded 1982), its fame."
(I.e., there ought to be a comma before "its fame"; "the website of the LvMI its fame" is not grammatical English. I'd use "come and see" rather than "come see", too, but I know the latter is acceptable informal American English)

Personally, that ad looks tacky, it doesn't attract me to the site.
If anything it strengthens the stereotype of Austrian economics being old and outdated form of economics.
I would suggest using a decent creative agency next time.

Mr. Tucker - Is it permissable to use this advertisement in local newspapers?
Published: May 16, 2009 1:11 PM

@G8RHED has the idea. I posted this not to show off or to say oh look how great it is that we are advertising in the Freeman but to distribute this widely in case anyone wants to use it anywhere for any reason.
Of course suggestions are always welcome. If anyone wants to design an ad of any sort please post on the forum or email me.

How about a place in the 'Media' section to store advertisements for future use or maintenance? That would make it a lot easier to find than scrolling through the blog topics.
I look foreward to promoting LvMI in local media.
