What Would A True Statesman Say To The American People?

If ever someone wanted to know what true statesmanship is; we have the perfect example in this speech given by Congressman Ron Paul ( http://www.campaignforliberty.com/index.php#18209 ).

In no way is it partisan!

There is no ego-driven motivation, it is purely a speech about the insanity of a hopelessly obese government that is operating completely outside of the Constitution!

This is a speech that should be distributed to every one of your friends and family and associates for no other reason than to enable them to hear the voice of reason.

Please make sure that as many people as possible watch this heartfelt and direct talk given for the sake of every American by the greatest statesman in the history of our nation.

For the record, the Chrysler Town & Country series of cars from the 1970's were some of the best cars ever produced by anyone, anywhere in the history of vehicles. I drove a 1978 LeBaron Town&Country Station Wagon for years. It was reliable, comfortable, handled well and was incredibly stylish for its time. It had over 300,000 miles when I finally let it go to the Pantheon of auto gods.

My Jeep Wrangler is ten years old and I have no plans to turn it in any time soon. When two Wrangler drivers see each other on the road, they almost invariably wave to each other. It's like a club. There's a lot of value left in Chrysler. The problem is to separate it from what's not-so-valuable. My amateur opinion: bankruptcy would have been a good thing. Months ago. (BTW, my other car is a 1957 Imperial.)

So Daimler, traditionally one of the best carmakers on the planet run by a country known for meticulous engineering couldn't fix Chrysler but Fiat, traditionally one of the worst car makers on the planet run by a country with a lax habits and no engineering tradition (much less a business tradition) can?

    OK.....

Every recession since the 1950's, Chrysler has almost gone out of business. Does anybody see a pattern here? Unfortunately, there is no reason for this company to exist.

    to ds:
you're quite wrong, here. italy has a fine engineering history. in fact, it's one of the biggest producers and exporters of machine tools.

Q: How are they going to buy Chrysler?

    A: With Fiat currency.

    An old joke, but:

Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organised by the Swiss.

Hell is where the cooks are British, the mechanics French, the lover's Swiss, the police German and it's all organised by the Italians.
