Read 'Em and Weep

February 6, 2009 3:44 PM by N. Joseph Potts (Archive)

The two current versions of the next bailout tsunami legislation are online (all 1500 pages of each) for all to see and wonder at. You can even search it to see if you're getting any of the almost $1 trillion (I'm not).

But this time, there's something new - you can participate in the huge task of indexing the thing, which has been put online for the edification of the millions who will share the privilege of paying for it (the legislation). Latitude for editorializing in the indexing system appears to be very limited, but the document strikes me as sufficiently eloquent in itself to require no more editorializing than perhaps the index itself.

does that mean we can index the entire thing as "pork"? specific sections as "strong economic depressants"?

So go to my index below to see how many times key words are referenced:

    Classical liberalism - zero.
    Constitutional Republic - zero.
    unConstitutional coup - zero.

    It's not worth reading!

    What, indexing?

David Axelrod said today that only, and only, the federal government can solve our economic crisis. Sounds like the indexing is a sham.
