Hayek on Meet the Press

January 19, 2009 10:56 AM by Jeffrey Tucker (Archive)

Thank you to Karen Palasek: here is a transcript of that great Meet the Press interview with F.A. Hayek. It shows just how principled he really was. Read it at the John Locke Foundation.

Thanks for this! Listening to the panelists is almost laughable; they have no understanding at all of inflation as a monetary phenomenon. Their lack of knowledge and insistence on the government to act so as to improve the situation for those on the periphery of society is very relevant to what will begin tomorrow with Obama's inauguration.

Bwahaha they took the printing presses metaphor literally! Hayek must've been laughing inside.

    '[...]
    Hayek:
"No, it's more likely to become worse. The present tendency would destroy capitalism inevitably.[...]'

Unfortunately, the world has been busy doing that for as long as the word capitalism ever existed.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
