What happened to the elegant scholars' editions of Human Action and Man, Economy, and State -- the one with the solid colored bindings and the suave ribbons? The new iterations look like they give up a great deal of that elegance.

We finally ran of the blue and it was unaffordable to reprint. But this new edition is so much more practical. For one thing it is a much lower price. For another, it is actually more durable, and the new design freshens it substantially. The more people use these casebound books--real life books for actual daily use in the real world--the more people see the advantages over cloth. For one thing, no crazy cover that is falling all over the place.

Great work Bob! As I'm reading through Human Action right now, I'll make this a Christmas present to myself.

Are the new editions of Human Action and of Man, Economy, and State with Power and Market hardback or paperback? If they're hardback, I may decide to buy the new editions (even though I already own both books), wallet willing.

Alexander - the new version of MES (if by "new" you mean the version released in 2005) is hardback.

    Mr. Richard,

    I have the LvMI 2004 Scholar's Edition.

My question refers to this yet-to-be-released new edition.

    Yours,
    Alex Peak

It is the same as the previous except for a new and extended intro by Joe Salerno and this new cover.

"Human Action" Study Guide Is An Economic Science Gift!

The door is open wider than ever before. Enter in and feel the hospitality of purposeful human action!

Whereas before it seemed like you were house-sitting in a mansion without the familiar comforts of your own home; now you are welcomed in, brought a delicious beverage, treated to an ambience of soft but stimulating music, and given a guided tour of all the rooms in the mansion. Your host shares with you the art of story-telling, bringing to life all the vibrancy of the mansion. Each of the fireplaces are supplied with plenty of wood and you are brought slippers specifically made to fit your feet!

The windows are sparkling clean and the curtains are open so you can look out at the real world in comtemplation! This is where the wonder of this masterful work of Ludwig von Mises metamorphisizes into the ark of classical liberalism upon the sea of human history as you become one of the oarsman on the journey to a civilization that rests upon justice and unity and liberty and prosperity.

The Mises Institute is that remarkable host and the new study guide is the kind and generous hospitality bestowed upon you.
