Mises returns to the Vienna Chamber of Commerce
Two former Mises University students — Gregor Hochreiter and Rahim Taghizadegan — have recently established a new think-tank in Vienna, the Institut für Wertewirtschaft, to promote natural-law ethics and Austrian economics. Last week they arranged for me to give two lectures in the Vienna chamber of commerce. One was an appearance in a seminar of Herbert Pribyl, a professor of the Papal University of Heiligenkreuz (a town close to Vienna), who is also the head librarian of the chamber. The other was a public lecture to a paying audience of some 50 people on my new book on the ethics of money production. It was a great feeling to bring the Mises school back to the chamber, 74 years after Mises left it.

1. When was classical liberalism at its peak in Austria and in Vienna in particular?
2. What conditions exist in Vienna now in the sense that is it showing signs of a return to an era of classical liberalism?
