Bernanke will not let you lower your prices

April 2, 2008 12:53 PM by Jeffrey Tucker | Other posts by Jeffrey Tucker | Comments (9)

Marketwatch quotes Bernanke on a new benchmark: "We will not let prices fall at 10% a year."

Good thing he hasn't been running the computer industry for the last 15 years.

  • "Good thing he hasn't been running the computer industry for the last 15 years."

Or the electronics industry for the last 50 years.

  • I wonder...does Bernanke just do the opposite of what he should do on purpose to drive us nuts or what?

  • Combine that mentality (Bernanke on a new benchmark: "We will not let prices fall at 10% a year.") with the authority to send out swat teams as suggested by the demagogue Bush and you have a very palpable totalitarianism.

These are the very real characteristics of the 'road to serfdom' and as such we are living in an ominous time for America. America has been violated by the interventionists, the breakers of the covenant that we call the Constitution.

A phoenix rising from the ashes metaphor may be what ends up restoring the concept of a constitutional republic.

Classical liberalism is such a harbinger!

  • Another translation: "We will not let the wage-earning class take shelter in falling prices."

    Kleptocracy.
