The interviewer was a bit daft, but Armentano and Paul were great.

Government, the greatest monopoly of all. And Ron Paul is part of it.

Paul: I would not outlaw them if the free market were allowed to operate.
I always thought Ron Paul was a closet anarchist, but statements like this would not be uttered by an anarchist. So what is Ron Paul? Officially he is a minarchist. To remain within the system he cannot but be. But what is he unofficially? Does he truly accept free markets?
I am of the opinion that he is Rothbardian, but is unable to admit that publicly, for obvious reasons. Personally, I support him, although I recognize that his methods are doomed to fail. I hope when he fails enough people have been woken up that the next step will seem less radical.

Silly to accuse Paul of somehow collaborating with the government simply by being an elected representative. His quest may have always been a quixotic one, but his motives are noble and consistent over a long career. He wants to humble the federal government. I salute him.

Paul is a strict Constitutionalist. That means minarchist. I am for it! Strict Constitutionalism is legally defensible, accepted by the majority, and highly libertarian. I don't judge people based upon their political votes, but if you are a libertarian that doesn't vote as a strict Constitutionalist, then you are missing the boat.
Strict Constitutionalism is the easiest, most clearly defined, legal path to democratically accepted libertarianism. To deny that is attempt to 'immanentize the eschaton'.

Simply put - NO ONE comes closer to the Libertarian ideal than Ron Paul.
We will never reduce govts burdens upon us if we don't have "insiders" w/in the sytem to look out for us and foment change from their public pulpits.
The MAIN thing is his support of real species money that takes back from govt it's unlimited CC whose debt accrues on the unborn.
GATA in April will blow the lid off Central Bankings manipulations of the gold market to coverup their abject mismanagement and inflationary and interest expense robbery of the world's peoples.

Heh, maybe Ron Paul be can viewed as the martyr who sacrifices himself so the rest of us can be spared?
Seriously though, as a libertarian it is impossible to understand how people can vote for MacCain and Romney instead of Ron Paul. The Americans were given a choice, an alternative. They didn't take it. Normally I don't agree with the saying "People get the leaders they deserve", because in most cases there is no actual choice.
However, as far as the presidential election 2008 goes the Americans had a choice, a luxury rarely (if ever) enjoyed in Europe. They will only have themselves to blame when the chips go down.
