The March

January 24, 2008 7:59 AM by Mises.org Updates (Archive)

Garet Garrett exarmines the critical question. If we are not marching toward socialism, traditionally and technically understood, what are we marching toward?

If you say it is toward socialism you leave out the possibility that it may turn into something else. Much more than that, if you say it is toward socialism you fill the view with smoke and may fail to see clearly what it already has in common with every kind of totalitarian government we know anything about, namely, insatiability.

There is no way to sate its appetite for more power. Fascist government was insatiable, Nazi government was insatiable, Marxian government in Soviet Russia and Labor government in Great Britain are insatiable -- all with one lust, which is the lust for power; all alike resolved to control the people's way of living according to a plan, and all alike creating a dependent society. Now, relating the news, world news, scientific world news, especially in industrialized countries (America, England , France), what else can we say about the question of "climatic change", IPCC's report, and the way they are related in scientific groups. It's merely obvious, as was saying Garet Garrett in his years, we, many decades after, are still marching in the same way, toward the oppression of minorities, and the sacrifice of freedom., toward a world of slavery and servitude...

    Paraphrasing Hayek:
Any use of force in a market is Socialism. The end result is more force. It is only different from the Nazis and Communists in degree.

    Paraphrasing Rand:
The US economy is not Capitalist nor Socialist, it is mixed. The issue is that once you use force on the market you create the need for more force to correct the original use of force. Eventually you end with a mixed economy leaning much further to the Socialist end than the original situation.

In other words you end up poorer and more miserable.

It all comes down to the belief that one person should be able to control another person.

... actually it is person A petitioning (lobbying) person B to control person C not realizing that eventually person B controls both of them. It's like selling your soul to the devil.

"In other words you end up poorer and more miserable."

But the amazing thing about it is that socialism will convince you that it's in your best interest to be poorer and more miserable, because they'll tell you that you would be even worse off without them. In the end, no matter how bad it gets, you still think you're better off. That's where socialist thinking becomes something akin to a disease.

    Aristotle's Radicaly Good People***

There is “NO Such Number” or NO Such Thing,” as Totalitarianism, only Neo-Platonist Emmanuel Kant's Ideology Ideology: a No-Calorie Substitute for Philosophy-leading to death by Cutural Deprivation: the Genus to the species-Sensory Deprivation. Ideology is a label used by Kantists to diguise their religion as philosophy. Kant was the Baalam of Koernesburg, Prussia. All Religions are Neo-Platonisms; all Neo-Platonisms are Religions, and all are descended/derived from Mesopotamia's religion, better known as that of Baal. or of Caannanite Baal. To appease the Athenian Euro-Baalams, and thus avoid the Death of Socrates or having to flee abroad, Plato used an Abstract Version of the religion of Baal, but in a very controlled, limited manner. Philo Judaeus of Alexandria was the first writer to use Neo-platonism extensively, see “The Works of Philo,” about $14 dollars on Amazon. Faced with the same problem, Aristotle left Athens a second time, stating of Socrates Death: One Sacrifice to Athens by Philosophy is Enough!) The wizzoned little man behind the frightful scenery of July Garland's "Over The Rainbow," can well represent Emmanuel Kant. He was the Official Philosopher of Prussia, Imperial Germany, Weimar Repuiblic Germany, Nazi Germany, West and East Germanies, and United Germany Today. Hegel was only a minor modification to adapt Kant a little better to Prussia's Particular Circumstances, and Karl Marx modified Hegel a very little to adapt Kant to Socialism. All Socialists since have been Marxist, nearly all have adopted the Red Flag of Kantist Socialism: Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia adopted the Red Flag of Socialism with the Blue Diagonal Cross of Saint Andrew, with Stars, and is referred to as the “Stars and Bars. The US Government owns it since Appamatiox Courthouse, and Congress can at anytime write rules for its Display. The Official Confederate Flag was the White Flag previously used by the French Merchant Marine, which used Heavily Armed Frigate like Merchant Ships to transport French Luxery Goods to all points of the Globe. These Agresive Ships would open fire on any Ship that did not Dip its Flag in Respect, and fire until the Ship was sunk, engulfed in flames unlikely to be put out, or the Offending Ship Dipped its Flag in Respect. While the Official Confederate Flag was a self-deluding Southern Romantic Fantasy, Lee's Flag represented John C. Calhoun's Slavery Based Socialism: Calhoun, the Baalam of Charleston, Slandered Blacks as Emmanuel Kant's Radical Evil, so therefore must be kept enslaved to prevent their doing greater evils. It is hard to imagine what evils Calhoun is referring to, ecept perhaps escape, and poaching a few free-ranging chickens, which their enslaved labors had paid for many times over, while earning their owners Magnificant Fortunes, which in turn helped finance the Industrial Revolution in both England and America, and from these, all the rest of the World's Industrial Revolutions. Most people alive today, are alive because of those Pre Civil War American Blacks enslaved labors. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, England had a stable population of 2 Million Persons for many Centuries; now its population is 55 Million Persons. Using the same porportions, Without the Industrial Revolution, todays US Population would be 11 Million Persons. Pre-Civil War, most American Millionaires had homes in Nachez, Mississippi, many survived the Civil War, and can be seen there today. We should honor the Pre-Civil War Blacks as Aristotle's Radicaly Good People and as One of the World's New Israelites, as indeed the First European Settlers and the Founding Fathers intended it should be.

    The Ideas and Spirit of Moses, Aristotle, and Jesus. during Jesus Lifetime, were Philosophy's;
Syncratizing with the Neo-Platonist Religion of Baal, cam much later! See Professor Orthodox Rabbi Joseph Neusner's book on the Jewish Syncratization with Neo-Platonism: “Judaism in Transition: from philosophy to religion.” Professor Neusner notes Communism is a Jewish Heresy started by Marx, which does not follow the Essesence of Judaeo-Christianity: Dueteronomy 6:4-5, according to Professor Samuel Schultz, retired Professor of Theology from Wheaton College-the Harvard of the Bible Colleges, one must honor to be saved, by both Jewish and Christian Beliefs. Professor Schultz notes Dueteronomy is “the most important book in the Bible. Professor Sameul Schultz once pastored a Methodist Church. Professor Neusner notes: after Judas Maccabee expelled the Selucids from Israel, a great Renaissance of the Study of The Septuagint (Hebrew Bible in Common Greek (Koine') Tranlation, began and completed by Pharohs, Ptolomys I an II, (friends and students) at Aristotles request, and the Septuagint (a main work, which the Library of Alexandria was built to hold) was completed by 265 BC. All later Bibles were derived from the Septuagint, and the Babylonian Targum; whose 5 Books of Moses were a true translation, but the rest, a paraphase.

No Hook Nosed Aristotle, No Septuagint; No Septuagint; No Rabbinical Judaism and No Christianity. The Septuagint was translated about the Last Time a Few Scholars could read Ancient Hebrew, a dead language since the fall of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, Samaria, 726 BC. The Mesoratic Hebrew Translation was began at the Insistance of the Catholic Church, which does notlike the Septuagint after Ancient Hebrew had been a dead language for over 1334 years, and completed about 1000 AD, after Ancient Hebrew had been dead over 1726 years. another syncratism with the religion of Baal: enforced on Judaism, at the Lying Insistance of the Catholic Church. After Thomas Aquinas, the Catholic Church was a bulwerk of his syncratized Aristotelianism, until the mid 1960s, when it replaced Aristotle in its Semminaries with the Official Nazi German Philosopher, Emmanuel Kant. Today's Pope is a former Nazi Anti-Aircraft Soldier, who helped kill 30,000 American Airman; this whole scheme of allowing ex-Nazi Soldiers to advance in and capture the Roman Catholic Church, is one of America's Great Weaknesses that sorely needs correcting. Immediately Ban all Nazi Soilders from serving as Clergy, Imprision all Emmanuel Kant's followers and derivatives, in a Desert POW camp, in Death Valley and/or Alice Springs. The US Civil War, WWI, WWII were all prematurely ended, allowing the Perpetrators to burrow back into Civil Society. Read Ludwig von Mises' book, “Omnipotent Government” and also the non Mises book, “The Powers that Be,” to help identify the main Americain Dwelling Perpetrators.

After reading the above I am convinced we are all doomed, a perfect example of the consequences of creeping socialism.

"Fascist government was insatiable, Nazi government was insatiable, Marxian government in Soviet Russia and Labor government in Great Britain are insatiable."

There's a typo there. There has never been any such thing as a "Labor" government in Great Britain; it's a proper name in that usage, as the initial capital letter should suggest, and should be used with the British spelling "Labour" even if you personally use American spellings.

"Today's Pope is a former Nazi Anti-Aircraft Soldier, who helped kill 30,000 American Airman..."

this is not correct. benedict xvi joined the hitler jugend at 14, as was obligatory for young german males. he was drafted into the wehrmacht (not airforce), and later deserted. this is such a gross error i didn't bother to read the rest of the screed.

a word of kindly advice - you'll make your posts more legible if you are more generous with the paragraph spacings. i got vertigo and gave up.

High taxes are a bad thing - both in economic terms and in moral terms.

High government spending is a bad thing - both in economic terms and in moral terms.

Lots of government regulations are a bad thing - both in economic terms and in moral terms.

It does not make a vast difference to use the "S word" (socialism).

Although, sure, 100% taxation is socialism and 1% taxation is not.

The British Labour party covered this point in the old clause four of its constitution (back in 1918 Nottingham Conference).

Socialism being not just the "public" control of the means of "production and distribution" but also of "exchange",

For if the government controls all the money it controls everything else.

Well the present Pope did, as a young conscript, help man anti aricraft defences. Before "deserting" when the German army fell apart at the end of the war.

However, when aircraft are bombing your towns and cities flat (killing hundreds of thousands of civilians) not manning anti aircraft guns we an odd thing to do. Politics (such as where the aircraft might have come from) does not really come into it.

    to paul marks:
my umbrage is at the description of ratzinger as a former nazi. membership of the hitler jugend was compulsory from 1936 onwards. attendance of meetings was made obligatory in 1939. service under arms doesn't mean ratzinger was a nazi. as you say, not to serve would have meant a quick trip to dachau, or a bullet. ratzinger was 12 when poland was invaded.

point conceded on his anti-aircraft posting, my mistake.

"Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia adopted the Red Flag of Socialism with the Blue Diagonal Cross of Saint Andrew, with Stars, and is referred to as the “Stars and Bars."

This is complete nonsense. And the Confederate battle flag, if that's what you're referring to, was not the flag known as the "stars and bars".

"Lee's Flag represented John C. Calhoun's Slavery Based Socialism: Calhoun, the Baalam of Charleston,..."

Have you actually read anything written by Calhoun? It's hard to see how you could call him a socialist.

This is a good reference to what the "stars and bars" were, which was not Robert E. Lee's standard flag.
