A Personal Note on Lew
I just heard from Lew Rockwell and he made it out of surgery just fine. He had serious surgery done on the back of his eye, not super dangerous but quite harrowing. It took a good part of the day yesterday. Apparently it will be a month or so before we know how much good it did and what the prospects are. But the important thing is that he is feeling fine and recovering. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Lew, I spoke with the department and it seems that based on current regulations you could be eligible for benefits. We will need for you to fill out a form 10-289 and return it prior to your surgery. The department guidelines indicate you should get an answer from the field office in six to ten months, depending on your status and current employment status. If the department determines that you have done anything productive in the last 5 years you will be ruled ineligible for benefits. On a personal note, our prayers are with you. (But please don't tell the department I said so in official correspondence.)

Just learned of your recent surgery, Lew. Just as Jeff put it, my thoughts and prayers are with you, for a speedy and complete -- or at least good enough -- recovery.
By the way, it was just one eye, correct? You know the story of Odin, don't you? How he exchanged one of his eyes for wisdom? The comparison seems rather apt, if pagan-blasphemous.
