Politicians can proudly proclaim their gifts to the world, and never worry about the source of funds, nor weigh the gifts against alternate choices. They simply get to give, smile, and sit back to receive the accolades that fall at the feet of the political don. What a life — though a life devoid of reason and reality. We are continually emasculated by DC thugs who steal our dollars and then hand them out as their own, leaving us to distribute whatever change is left in our pockets. FULL ARTICLE

    I would go even further than the author. I not only resent having to fund the "forced charities" of hypocritical politicians, it's that many of the causes they support with my money are actually counter-productive.

    A case-in-point: the tons of "free" food we send to Africa every year practically guarantees that local farming is permanently undermined. It's bad enough that governments make people dependent on aid, but we prop up brutal regimes and allow them to avoid badly needed changes.

    So American taxpayers are victimized, millions of foreigners become wards of the state, and tyrants are living a life of luxury with our money. The wonders of government planning!
