The Ol' Flu Fakeroo

November 22, 2006 7:17 AM by Jeffrey Tucker (Archive)

Hey, remember that blue flu that was going to sweep through America, kill millions, and require martial law and central planning of just about everything? I'm guessing that most everyone has forgotten about it. What a country! The president makes a hysterical speech calling for central planning, billions are spent on preparation and "cures," the talk shows are taken over by an army of tax-funded experts who say we are all going to die...and then the news cycle changes and everyone forgets about it.

Well, here are a few news stories, uh, downplaying the threat: 1 2 3.

(Thanks, as always, to the great Peter Doshi, who has been a lone voice of sanity all along)

Nobody told the state department. Just got an email from them saying that people in the U.S. should have enough supplies to last 2 weeks, and Americans overseas ought to prepare for up to 3 months of economic breakdown, including preparing do use chlorine to drinnk pool, pond, or collected rainwater.
