Jefferson, by Albert Jay Nock (1926), full text in PDF

"I like a little rebellion now and then," Jefferson wrote Mrs. Adams, ". . . The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all."

  • How great that more Nock is now available here! I read this book not long ago (the edition I have is titled Mr. Jefferson) and highly recommend it, especially for free!

  • It's been many years since I've read this little gem. Glad to see it available online. Nock often made more sense in a small book than the official historians did in volumes.
    Just a thought.

  • This actually made my day. Excellent. Thanks. I'll have to drop a check in response to the latest institute fundraising letter.
