FaNL audio, chapter 4: "Libertarian Applications to Current Problems"
Let us take a brief look, Murray Rothbard wrote in his 1970s manifesto, at the major problem areas of our society and see if we can detect any "red thread" that runs through all of them … high taxes … urban fiscal crisis … Vietnam and other foreign interventions … crime in the streets … traffic congestion … the military-industrial complex … transportation … river pollution … water shortages … air pollution … power shortages and blackouts … telephone service … postal service … television … the welfare system … urban housing … union strikes and restrictions … education … inflation and stagflation … Watergate …
If we look around, then, at the crucial problem areas of our society — the areas of crisis and failure — we find in each and every case a "red thread" marking and uniting them all: the thread of government.
