Evidence #3217 Showing How Greenies Hate Humans
Rice with Human Gene Causes Furor:
A tiny biosciences company is developing a promising drug to fight diarrhea, a scourge among babies in the developing world, but it has made an astonishing number of powerful enemies because it grows the experimental drug in rice genetically engineered with a human gene.Established rice producers are opposed to it because it threatens their business model, it is a case-study of "disruptive technology" and qui bono. The environmentalist movement opposes this new technology, in part because they are anti-human, likening humanity with a pest -- a scourge on the face of the earth. And this potentially life saving technology (remember, dysentery still kills thousands each year), allows us to continue to multiply and prosper. Be sure to read Ronald Bailey's article on Luddites.Environmental groups, corporate food interests and thousands of farmers across the country have succeeded in chasing Ventria Bioscience's rice farms out of two states. And critics continue to complain that Ventria is recklessly plowing ahead with a mostly untested technology that threatens the safety of conventional crops grown for food.
"We just want them to go away,'' said Bob Papanos of the U.S. Rice Producers Association. "This little company could cause major problems.''

In some of the more uncivilized cultures, they would take the less fortunate in society and burn them and kill them in human sacrifices to the volcano gods to appease the wrath of nature. Isn't it interesting that 1000's of years later, we still seem to have no problem geniciding the poor for the sake of the enviro gods. They did this with DDT too, while banning arguably saved people from a few thousand cases of cancer, it has arguably led to the uneeded death of 50 million.
Who knows how many have starved because they wern't allowed cultivate farms for the sake of saving the rain-forests.

One issue I'm sure that affects their emotional reaction to modified food is the difficulty vegans will have determining whether animal genes have been introduced in to their food.
This also will have implications for certain groups of people who cannot partake of animal products due to religious reasons.
