"Money is only paper..."
A reader of the Mises film page sends in an upcoming film that may be of interest. The Brazilian film The Man Who Copied (trailer) is about a young, poor man who works as a photocopier operator. Desperate to win the attention of a girl, he decides to go into the fiat money business. Money quote (forgive me): "[Fiat] Money is only paper that people believe is worth something. If nobody believes it, it's useless..."

I'll withhold final judgement until I've seen it (which I probably won't), but by the IMDB reviews it just looks like a comedy which has little if anything to say about economics.

I highly recommend Millions, a British comedy that recently opened in U.S. theaters. It is a quirky film about two kids who find a bag of stolen cash. The film makes fun of the Euro, fiat money generally, the real estate bubble, and the government. It is a real delight.

Something funny to note:
Our new office copier (from Konica-Minolta) is designed so that it will render itself totally useless and un-fixable if it senses that we're copying money with it (I think it has to happen twice).
For some reason I doubt that KM just decided to add this feature on their own...

Gold is only a metal that people believe is worth something. If nobody believes it, it's useless.
