"You keep going pinko on me, Hans." -- Walter Block, to Hans-Hermann Hoppe

Only in Auburn, Dr. Hoppe. Only in Auburn.

In any event, if you're not attending the Austrian Scholars Conference, you're missing out on goodies like this, all day, every day.

  • Don't leave us hanging! What was the context of this horrible accusation?

    Let me guess, immigration policy?

  • Ah, the Austrian Scholars' Conference. In no other forum will Hans-Herman Hoppe be accused of leaning too far left.

I hate that I can't be there this year. Maybe next year's ASC can be put on pay-per-view, and can culminate in a steel cage match of some kind to settle the Block-Hoppe debate after all?

  • The context: Hoppe was on a panel on Law and Economics, and his paper suggested that liability in a private, libertarian legal regime should extend beyond that which Rothbard suggested in some parts of The Ethics of Liberty.

I would go into more detail, but I wouldn't want to do Professor Hoppe's view any injustice. (Besides, what kind of University of Chicago student would I be if I let you "free ride" on my presence here?)

  • You folks haven't seen an Austrian steel-cage match until you've seen Hoppe vs. Barry Smith with Smith's withering, "You see, Hans, the problem is that you're a Kantian."
