Trade + Cricket = Peace
Andy Mukherjee of Bloomberg writes about the improving relations between India and Pakistan, and the potential benefits of trade.

Since I'm American, I only came to understand what cricket was just last year, staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait for many months, where the international cricket matches are one of the few things in English on the hotel cable TV.
Test Cricket, which goes on for *days*, in which the players break only for lunch and tea, must be the most boring sport on the planet.
Bully for them, but who has time for a 5-day game of cricket? I can't even break away for a 1-hour aerobic or weight-training workout some days!
I suspect that test cricket developed as a result of British imperialism. If it's anything like US imperialism, it involves lots of soldiers posted God-knows-where with nothing to do for days on end except eat, sleep, and pull a guard shift or go on a mission every once in a while.

Most boring sport on the planet ...that award has already been handed out to baseball, closely followed by America's idea of football, and basketball.
It is the tragedy of America that it foolishly rebelled against the Crown a century before cricket was taking root in the civilized colonies.
