A Serendipitous commentary...
...on Marx's position within the academy.
In light of today's article and Edward Feser's discussion of campus Marxism on techcentralstation.com, I thought this exchange was appropriate:
My wife and I had friends over for dinner Thursday night, one of whom was an economics minor at a local university. He's taking a course in European intellectual history. After some chit-chat about Marx & the rise of capitalism, we arrived at the following:
Friend (an avowed critic of Marx): There's no way around Marx's influence.
Me: Have you read anything by Carl Menger or Ludwig von Mises?
Friend (puzzled): Who?
