We all know (or should know) Rockwell’s Law: “Always believe the opposite of what state officials tell you, and the corollary, always do the opposite of what they advise you.” But here is another profound truth. This one is Richman’s Law, from Sheldon Richman, the editor of The Freeman. In his article in the March 2009 issue of Freedom Daily (not online yet) titled “The Madoff Scandal Exposes Government Failure,” Richman says: “No matter how much the government controls the economic system, any problem will be blamed on whatever small zone of freedom that remains.”

As Francis Bacon stated: “Truth is the daughter of time.”
And I think many Americans finally see the truth behind our Govt Officials agenda……..
Sadly, I don’t think enough people will see the truth until the whole system collapses. I mean, it’s going to have to get bad, really really bad. and even then, I’m not so sure.
DD,
Unfortunately, you likely correct…..
Face the fact’s, where do we fill the consumers needs.
Given the fact the taxpayer are dullard’s who voted in dullard’s there is no fruitfull direction until total collapse swallows’s them – do the math. Then it’s always somebody’s fault anyway. I am tired of it to the eyeballs. We deserve what we deserve. No amount of regulation will tell the consumer who is master. Market or the Goverment there is no other choice. Get some fact’s to where we can invest since we all know where the poker chips are stacked anyway. It has never been about the taxpayer. I have the power to choose where and when and by whom until they nuetralize me.
The hell with them, network and build another reality.
I have bought 3 saturns rebuild from the ground up.
My children have no debt. All are in college. I save 11 percent per week. I will find a way to pay ceasar his dues since he is not my first priority anyway. We know the drill. I have written my senate numerous times and they ask what can they do for my faimliy. I asked them to do nothing since we see what they are not doing.
…or whatever small zone of freedom that they pretend remains. I think they’ve gotten clever enough to realise that leaving an illusion of freedom (e.g. “public-private partnerships”) leaves them a handy scapegoat.
A lot of lefties will insist (sometimes loudly) that socialism is far better than capitalism, but will get quite angry at any suggestion that anything Obama does is socialist. Of course it’s partly because they recognize that the word “socialism” still has a negative connotation with a lot of people, but I suspect they also want to leave themselves the “out” of blaming “the free market” when socialism fails.
Call it Mises’ Law: People of the most widely divergent views nonetheless always converge in condemning “free market” capitalism for whatever they believe wrong. Particularly relevant is its derivation, Loberfeld’s Law: In a mixed economy, it’s the market element that takes the blame. (See BAILOUT.) Statism is eternally innocent.

I forgot to add “the corollary of Loberfeld’s Law: In a mixed economy, it’s always the statist element that gets the credit.”

So what about fluoride? The government tells me it prevents cavities and advises I drink fluoridated water.
What about vaccines? The government tells me vaccines will safeguard me from disease and are important for a healthy life.
What about the Fed? The government tells me it creates price stability and is the great shepherd of the modern economy.
What about the war on terror? The government tells me there are bad people who hate me for my freedom.
What about 9/11? The government tells me terrorists flew planes into the towers and they collapsed from fires.
Sadly, DD, I believe that even if the entire system collapsed around “our” heads, the ignorant masses who already believe, or are led to believe, that freedom creates chaos, will simply impose exactly the same kind of system on themselves (and us) again.
They’re accustomed to government intervention. The collapse of the system will simply convince them of what every “socialist” I’ve ever talked to is convinced of: It didn’t work this time, because it wasn’t pure enough and/or because it was the implemented by the wrong people.
Those in power always get to blame those who are not in power. Since the State is the ultimate authority, the State is never to blame and always the accuser.
Conversely, in a free market no one is in charge. Consequently the free market never gets to accuse anyone and always takes the blame.
It is all about power–power to make other people pay for your mistakes and power to take what you please.
