Of course it was my great great pleasure to interview a personal hero of mine, Professor Michele Boldrin. I’ve sort of lived and breathed the book he co-authored with David Levine, Against Intellectual Monopoly. It turns out that he is extremely approachable and articulate. I enjoyed this very much. I hope you do too. In fact, I truly hope it is the first of several interviews.

This was great! And I’m also excited about the deeper implications (imitation as a big part of progress),
Fantastic, I’ll listen this on the train to uni tomorrow!
I bought Boldrin & Levine’s book last week, I can’t wait to get stuck into it. I’m still on the fence as regards IP..
Jeff, this was just great–the part from about 6:30 to 9:50 or so (et pass.) — about the important role of imitation and emulation as an engine of growth and creativity is just amazing. And the discussion at around 22 or 23 minutes, about how the US auto companies never just copied the success of the Japanese carmakers, or competitors never copied Amazon, is just great. The discussion at around 30 minutes about how developing nations can only advance and catch up by imitating is also wonderful.
