This actually did happen

February 6, 2009 by

In Los Angeles, a window repairman secretly went around breaking windows by shooting them with a slingshot. Times are hard and he needed the business. The police caught him and, because he was a private individual instead of a state, now he is in trouble for his attempt to stimulate the economy.

Thanks Broken Window Watch and Vanguardist.

And the ghost of Frederic Bastiat laughs.

If only this man would have waited a few more months then he might have been able to join a government program destroying surplus cars or other goods.

At least he didn’t counterfeit!

He would really be a criminal if he printed up money to enrich himself, stealing from everybody else in the process!

Where does he get these immoral ideas?

Put him away before he starts extorting businesses by political means to gain more political power so he could then be a more powerful counterfeiter, extortionist, and all around exemplar of unconstitutional government!

Filed under the “The government hates competition” category.

Does Paul Krugman’s column make any mention about this? I would be surprised if he changed from his usual garbage that this is good for the economy.

HAHAHAHA! Keynes would be proud!

I guess in times of recession, a vice becomes a virtue and a virtue becomes a vice. In this case, vandalism and home invasion become a source of income. I shudder at the thought of a politician even suggesting such thought…Wait, isn’t what the paradox of thrift is all about?

At least he wasn’t a knee surgeon.

If he did to a Macy*s he would be a heroic Vandarchist! (N.O.K.)

A bricklayer in England was doing this a few years ago, the press dubbed him Harvey Wallbanger.

He could’ve used ultrasounds to break windows, that way he would not have got caught and would have broken more windows.

Or some homeless joe could break windows then call the police on reverse-charges using a pay-phone and claim he is the one breaking windows.

This will let him 3 months in jail fed, clothed and a warm bed.

There was a story in the paper yesterday about vandals breaking windows of some 50 cars in a subdivsion. I made the same comment about how they were only trying to “stimulate” the economy. Alas, no one seemed to get it.

So, how much longer until the candle-makers petition Obama for unfair trade?

I’m thinking about taking my car out, for a midnight ride around the neighborhood and crashing into all my neighbor’s cars. I hope to accomplish 3 things here:

1) Totaling mine as well as other people’s cars so that we can get the economy rolling again.

2) Helping Detroit. (Hopefully my neighbors will buy American)

3) Provide the insurance companies with more revenues (thus more jobs) since everyone will either have to pay higher deductibles to repair or to pay their newly purchased automobiles.

I Hate Taxes,

Better yet the joe should cut himself on the broken glass and then sue the homeowner for damages!

This would employ the police, lawyers, judges AND the window maker!
