Mises as Person of the Year

December 11, 2008 by

I was startled to receive a google alert about Time Magazin, Person of the Year, and Ludwig von Mises. Clicking through, it turns out that Time asked Ron Paul who he would suggest, and Mises is his choice!

I think if he nominated Karl Marx, they would actually think about it.

So there we have it: the Person of the Year has chosen Ludwig von Mises as the Person of the Year !

These are the credentials of nobility.

Let’s ask the following questions:
Who is the greatest statesman in world history? Ron Paul !
Who is the greatest economist in the 20th century ( and probably in the entirety of history)? Ludwig von Mises !

Can Time Magazine handle such magnitude?

It is a a shame Mises or Ron Paul did not even make the poll.

Ron Paul may have even stood a chance against Obama in the poll.

No doubt they’ll just name someone/something completely inane. Remember “The Endangered Earth” of 1988, for example?

Dr. Paul is a continuous sower of seeds, and that is what separates him from most other men of our time. Dr. Paul talks of von Mises in an article. The article is read, but the name von Mises is not familiar. The reader researches Ludwig von Mises and becomes intrigued with the man and his ideas. He/she explores mises.org and orders a Mises essay, which is read. Next, a book is attempted and understood. Soon, thereafter, Austrian economics has another adherent. Yes, Dr. Paul is a sower of seeds.

I second William Rader’s comment. That’s how I arrived at this wonderful place.
