What makes you think we aren’t all serfs already.
Nature, the universe decides our species, our sex, our health, our genes, our epoch, our country of birth, our planet, the things we will like, the things we will hate, our wishes, the color of our skin, eyes, hair etc.
Anything else, any “freedom” man fights for is only cosmetic.
We are all abducted souls on this planet of forced labor and death.
There’s a big difference between what nature requires of us, and what our fellow man does to us. Political freedom is what the Road to Serfdom is about. I don’t mind metaphysical discussions, but this doesn’t seem to be the appropriate place for it.
It is ironic that planning serves both purposes simultaneously: freedom & serfdom.
Because while you plan your own way to escape from serfdom, planners plan to keep you in serfdom.
“We are all abducted souls on this planet of forced labor and death.”
Wallow in misery, then.
My favorite Frank Zappa quote says it all:
“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre.”
So given a protracted war on terror, on civil liberties, and the free market, what Hayek-Highway mile market are we at?
