Remembering Murray

October 9, 2008 by

Michael Lawrence never met him but after reading his work and watching his videos, he feels like his knows him, and he wonders what he would say about today’s economic mess. Here is his post.

In addition to the current financial crisis, I often wonder what Murray Rothbard would have to say about the claim of man-caused global warming. As an individual who placed great priority on scientific rigor and integrity (and whom did not receive a prestigious academic position because of it), I do not believe he would have much positive to say regarding the AGW assertion.

I wonder the same thing about Mises and Hayek.

I think Mises would proceed boldly against the evil. :) The attacking and encyclopedic book he would write would explain, in great detail, how it all happened and why all the interventions would ultimately fail. (And he’d be proven right. Again.)

I think Hayek would also write a book about the causes and how the interventions will fail, but he be more concilitory towards his opponents. After dedicating the book to them, he would, of course, demolish their arguments. (And he’d also be proven right. Again.)
