Newman’s Anti-Market Song

September 22, 2008 by

Apparently Randy Newman has a new song attacking the free market and those entrepreneurs who have attempted to heroically fix the housing bubble and financial crisis by selling financial stocks. He says that they people have no reason to live, that they go ahead spreading rumors that are great big lies, and that they will get you and every time. Disgusting.

It is only in the details that “leftism” and “conservatism” are distinct, and probably only a matter of time before they merge together. Then “liberalism” will truly be faced with fighting extinction.

What a loser.

This Randy fellow, he’s not hoping to make money from this song, is he? Has he promised to donate the proceeds to a worthy cause, like a home for the intellectually challenged?

I don’t get it, is this post supposed to be a joke? Where is this song you’re talking about? That link is to Newman’s 1977 song “Short People” on YouTube. That song is about bigotry from what I understand; it has nothing to do with markets.

“Short People”, as in people who short stocks. I get it. ha-ha. But Randy was actually defending “short people”, not attacking them, so it’s really a pro-market song being misunderstood…

Yes, this was just fun and games. But Newman’s song is an attack on bigotry against short people and I am using it by extension as an attack against the “bigotry” against short selling in financial markets.
