National Review–I can vaguely, hazily recall that this publication has some doubts about the merit of the crusading leviathan state–is throughly disgusted that Ron Paul raised $4.2 million in 24 hours online. It proves that we need not be “impressed by anybody able to gather cash over the net.” It only demonstrates “that lot of people will donate money just to extend a middle finger to the establishment”…and we can’t have that!

I did too, as you say, just to put a finger up to the power elite. The NYT article on the subject yesterday did the usual ‘dark horse, second tier, day best known for a terrorist plot’ spin on it.
Why is the media so … offended by Dr. Paul?
To offer an answer, isn’t the media heavily influenced, or owned by banking interests? There you go.
If we “need not be impressed” by RP’s fundraising, or even by his performance in online polls, then … why isn’t any OTHER candidate able to repeat it?
If it were, indeed, unimpressive, then a challenge should be made to the supporters of Rudy McRomney and HillRack Obamton to do the same, or OUT-do what has been accomplished.
The MSM aren’t offended by Paul; they’re threatened. Why? Because the MSM depend on advertising, meaning big corporations, and big corporations depend on the welfare-warfare state and its phony money for their survival. Since Paul wants to dismantle both the welfare-warfare state and phony money in a return to constitutional government, he threatens the survival of the “media-industrial complex” — all the more so because of his exploitation of the Internet, which is already threatening the survival of the mainstream print media:

Well as long as all those people online actually go and vote in a primary, things will be good. Will that happen? My money is on no.
Do you really believe that the reporters, while writing these articles, or even their editors, are thinking these thoughts?
The MSM media may suck, but I know enough reporters that I’m convinced that they believe they’re fair.
Clearly there is some problem with the MSM, but claiming that all or most reporters are consciously skewing their work due to some long-term fear really stretches credibility.
Wow, talk about begging the question! The author does it twice in the course of this article. I suppose that it would be a bit hackneyed to suggest that the $4.2 mill in contributions is the result of savvy Ron-Paul supporting hackers, so this is their next-best option.
In short, this is the most pathetic attempt at undermining a stunning victory that I have ever seen. Well, NRO, you’re right. We’re mad as hell and we’ll do whatever it takes to get noticed. Oddly enough, it just might work.
CWhestefeld:
You really think that reporters think that they are fair?
Reporters are only interested in pleasing the higher-ups and making a name for themselves so that they can advance their careers. Right now the media kings are statist socialists. If that were to change, then it would work the other way around.
I’ll take that bet. The revolution knows that without hitting the actual voting arena we are useless. Do you honestly think that millions of Americans willing to stand in pouring rain and going door to door to spread the peace message of Ron Paul won’t get out and vote? Better get out of the way on election day, the PaulBots will be out in force.
In fact I don’t want your money. Do America a favor and check out Ron Paul and listen to the man speak truth. It may sound odd at first, but yep, that’s truth speaking. It’s been a while hasn’t it?

Oops, I forgot. As with The Fox News Channel, all mainstream news is “fair and balanced.”
When Newt Gingrich announced on Fox News’ Big Story that he was not running for President he said something very interesting. The reporter asked him something about the other Republican candidates and their chances of winning. Gingrich replied by saying (I’m paraphrasing here) “The only Republican that can stand a chance against Hillary has to do two things. 1) He must distance himself from the “Washington” crowd and 2) he must find a way to raise money effectively over the Internet.” Newt said that at the end of September! Ron Paul was at that time the only candidate meeting either one of those qualifications. After yesterday though it’s official!
I was a bit upset at the NRO article at first. When you think about it though they can’t support Ron Paul no matter what he does now. They dug themselves into a hole by constantly demeaning the good Dr. and his candidacy; and all they can do from here on out is dig deeper! I can just hear one of the “smart” guys over at NRO saying around Convention time “No. Dig up, stupid!”
It is refreshing to see my fellow Americans finally waking up to the circumstances they are in. Even if 1 billion dollars is raised for truth and freedom, even if every thinking non-robotic person wakes up and supports Dr. Paul, even if every MSM media scumbag article is challenged on the facts by hundreds of people who see the facts, IT WILL ALL BE FOR NOTHING if we do not take back the voting system to open transparent fairness.
Electronic voting machines are a part of the foundation of the establishment’s control. The tyrants can safely sit behind phony poll results as a screen for the fraud they will pull on election day. The establishment foresaw that a certain percentage of Americans would start to awaken as the tyranny became more obvious. Unless you want all your work to go down the drain you MUST do something about the electronic voting machines. The system can crank in any result they want.
50 lawsuits in the 50 sates are in the process of being filed that demand the decertification of electronic, paperless voting machines like the Diebold system. Please check out the votefraud org also VoteInSunshine and the National Clean Elections Lawsuit: “N-CEL” for more details about this vital subject. Time is short. I pray it is not too late for all of us!
“I care not who votes, I care only about those who count the votesâ€.-
quote attributed to the dictator Josef Stalin
There is a way in which the MSM is ‘threatened’ by Ron Paul: with Ron Paul in power, there would be a lot less war & politics and a lot less need for people to follow the media. They’d lose their jobs.
So there’s a way how internet will make libertarianism the mainstream political ideology: First, the internet destroys the MSM. Without do-good journalists making the world sound like a bad place in need of change, there will be less interest for party politics and people will vote for anyone who just promises to leave them alone. Without mass media, there will be less wars (I believe Randolph Hearst is accredited of starting American imperialism). There’s no way you can make billions selling war propaganda over the internet.
So I’m an optimist and believe that it’s actually enough to destroy the Fourth Estate to remove the oppressive power of the state. From the printing press to television, spreading information has required capital. Now that it’s for free, spreading lies (printing money) will be impossible in the long run. Politics will return to its proper levels, to local communities and global interest/religion-based networks.
Hmm…why wasn’t I able to find a link on the NRO site to extend a finger to the writer?
Most North Americans are sleepwalking. They can only concieve of voting for a traditional dinosaur candidate. This extends to the media.
Note that the only candidate that advocates the concept of individual freedom, a freedom that extends to the limit of harm to others, is treated as the oddball, the kook.
It is not surprising that the other candidates and media members smirk and sneer when this man speaks.
It is easy enough to use men’s tribal loyalties to incite them to war. But in truth, there are only two tribes in the world. There is us, the people who work and produce. And there is the glorified Three Stooges act with weapons that pass themselves off as our leaders.
Al over the world, our rulers have gone mad, more mad than usual.A few people are truly awake, they see Ron Paul as the only public figure in a long, long time, that truly wants to reverse the growing power of the state.
I hope Mr. Paul wins. But win or lose, his ideas are going to be around, will be gaining acceptance, from now on.
“There is a way in which the MSM is ‘threatened’ by Ron Paul: with Ron Paul in power, there would be a lot less war & politics and a lot less need for people to follow the media. They’d lose their jobs.”
Actually, the media would simply have to earn their money for a change and write about something other than war and gay congressmen. I realize that I’m dating myself by saying this, but there was a time when the media demonstrated the ability to write interesting material on a wide range of topics. Then they got lazy.
As for “The Doctor”, I was considering making a donation on Christmas Eve and then again on New Year’s Eve as a blockbuster way of ringing in the New Year.
Unfortunatly I’m sure we’d see an increase of stories about missing rich white girls. Kids go missing, get killed everyday; why does the media care so much about a few of them? I almost shot my tv because of that holloway case…ugh…but freedom is worth it

Since i’m living in Europe, Vendetta really does not strike me as a great movie, merely a symbol that couldn’t stand alone as a story, I was tempted to say, though I was looking for to get the DVD. But now this! I’m quite a bit… impressed. Does anyone has any idea how the director or producer is linked to Paul (or the actress…!?) or how this all fits together?!
Glenn Greenwald has an excellent post up on Ron Paul:

Consider mailing it to your friends.
Jeffrey, your right – the post by National Review IS appalling. But surely not surprising. They`ve enjoyed both the emotional buzz associated with wars and calling liberals traitors, as well as being insiders in the great theft machine.
Regards,
Tom
Sorry, thats Doctor Paul of course.Ive been eating too much from aluminum pots and pans.
Artisan, you owe it to yourself to look up the original comic book (sorry, Graphic Novel) _V for Vendetta_ by Alan Moore. It’s actually a very good story that was made into a not all that great a movie.
Sadly, while “V” in the book explains very well how government is merely a destructive parasite, the only time the word “anarchy” is used in the movie it’s by a petty thief who likes shooting up other peoples buildings.
OK, I should have known better. Still the timing of the movie isn’t too bad thus. But so you mean all these donors are knowledgeable of the comic rather than of the movie?! This strikes me as even more amazing! I will look it up though, thank you.
I don’t usually watch news during the day or even at night but I did yesterday to see what they had to say about the infamous haul. What was most strange was the total lack of curiosity as to the how or why people donated 4.2 million dollars to this man. They would just report it and say “wow!” and go on. A woman on FOX news actually said, I swear “I’m not saying this had any particular significance I just thought I’d tell you about it” wha??? So are you not going to do stories anymore at all? “the titanic crashed. there may or may not have been people on board and they may or may not be alive but just know that it has crashed”. I didn’t see one actual discussion of the issue other than some rushed interviews with the man himself. I saw a cat that cost 27,000 dollars and a huge fatso linebacker who ran for a 66 yard touchdown and looked like he nearly died in the process but no actual “reporting” on the story, just the fact that there was a story.

Lester,
What a lot of the media is trying to do is put the American public into a kind of intellectual catatonia. They’ll skim over a story about Ron Paul and then follow up with something that’s mentally anethesizing; i.e. a video clip of a cute, fluffy kitten that’s stuck up a tree.
it was a beautiful cat though
To be fair to reporters, let’s consider the fact that perhaps they do think they’re being fair, but the truths upon which they base such fairness are completely skewed. Follow the chain of command, of course, and you will see that the heads of media corporations are in bed with the bankers and the politicians. Those with the money and power define truth for the rest of us, and you can’t blame all reporters for buying it.
