The Source

August 21, 2007 by

Ron Paul is in New Hampshire, and when I spoke to him yesterday, he told me: “So many of the people I meet mention the Mises Institute. Clearly the Institute is the source of this movement’s economic education.”

Thank you for access to the writings that have inspired this movement.

Ron Paul is an inpiration to us all and it has led me here to discover his inspiration and philisophical roots for myself.

Thanks

The source sounds too modest, did you mean the fountainhead?

This could become a worldwide revolution. I don’t want to be overly optimistic, but it’s difficult not to get excited with the developements of Dr. Paul’s campaign. Much of it, I’m sure is due to long years of work from the Mises Institute. Maybe it’s time to reap the benefits of that work.

I wish I could understand this Ron Paul obsession.

The Mises Institute has certainly done well by fueling one of the few bright lights, of Knowledge and Reason, visible on the, currently, dim plain of contemporary ‘thought’.

Personally, I think its recent publishing of many, long since out of print, Titles is a Masterstroke.

I’d only wish that it would take the initiative to offer book packages on sites like RP2008 and related.

As well, to bring it( Fiancial Services ) up again, a Mises Institute-themed payment vehicle (Visa, M/C) offering ‘cash-back’ (in the form of donations to RP ’08) would, I think, do wonders for both organizations.

When I met Ron Paul at a New Hamshire fundraiser last april, I told him about my visit to the Mises Insitute the previous october. He was happy to hear it.

Another person there had a Carl Menger shirt on, and I had on my Rothbard T.

He signed my book, The Case for Gold, and gave a great half hour speech.

I remember reading that most libertarians say they arrived at their position from reading Rand’s Fountainhead, or Atlas Shrugged. Thomas Jefferson was cited as the second most influential figure.

Surely the Mises Institute is to be credited with giving the next generation of libertarians the intellectual ammunition and thorough education necessary to understand and defend the principles of liberty.

Dear Lew,

I went to the Iowa Straw Poll for two reasons: one, to see a great classical liberal – Ron Paul, and two, to rendez-vous for the first time with a fellow Iowan who has been studying classical liberalism since 1970 – Brian Adams.

Before his morning speech I waited in line and when I reached him I asked him if he ever met Ludwig von Mises! After he answered my question he thanked me for being aware of the Mises Institute and commented about the vital role played by the Mises Institute in worldwide economic education.

Ron Paul is a statesman perhaps unlike ever seen before and he has the unswerving principles necessary to restore the Constitution as the rule of law for this nation.
