Jefferson, by Albert Jay Nock (1926), full text in PDF

“I like a little rebellion now and then,” Jefferson wrote Mrs. Adams, “. . . The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all.”

How great that more Nock is now available here! I read this book not long ago (the edition I have is titled Mr. Jefferson) and highly recommend it, especially for free!

It’s been many years since I’ve read this little gem. Glad to see it available online. Nock often made more sense in a small book than the official historians did in volumes.
Just a thought.

This actually made my day. Excellent. Thanks. I’ll have to drop a check in response to the latest institute fundraising letter.
