Quote generator

August 17, 2006 by

The WashTimes has a piece on Bob Smither who is making life difficult for the Repubs and Dems in Texas. But what interests me is his quote machine at the bottom of the page. The code is here.

I think if the LP dopted different foreign policy platform, they would be much more electble. I’m not saying they should adopt a neocon platform or a left-wing UN-centric platform, but rather adopt the ideas of some of our own libertarians. William Lind, Chet Richards, Ron Paul and others have written about radical privatization of the Defense Deprtment in order to sructure it to fight fourth-generation warfare (non-state actors). The Pentagon would be restructured to more as an administrator of congresional writ of marques for military action. Bids are put in on military objectives, and Backwater Security, Triple Canopy, and others bid for it. Ron Paul introduced a writ of Marque after 9/11 to take out the Taliban, with private security/mercenary forces.

I am suprised Mr. Smither isn’t already being hmmered on this website for his FairTax support.

Jeff, I’ve had that code on my blogs for quite a while… ;-)

Mr. Bradley, I only disagree in terms of “bid for it”. The contract would be put out, and the first person/team to demonstrate that they accomplished the act gets the money. No Contracts!

With contracts, there is graft and corruption in order to secure the contracts.

With a bounty system, not only do the winners have to accomplish the goal _first_, they have to do it in such a way that they can successfully claim success.

“Bring in the head of…” sounds nasty, but it serves its purpose well.

Have you read _Assassination Politics_? http://www.outpost-of-freedom.com/jimbellap.htm

Is there an identifiable coeterie of “Austrian” Merchants/Service Providers?

I appreciate that there are quite booksellers supportive of the general theme, though, I am curious if (like the Roller Coaster CD) the genre could be defined on a wider basis (?)

btw, That “Road to Serfdom” cartoon is Priceless.

Any thought of reprints? I’d order 500 @ U$D 1

I always found the “War of Assassins” in Frank Herbert’s Dune to be as morally superior to conventional war as it is to guerrila war, and that is to terrorism.

To clarify: “Any thought of reprints? I’d order 500 @ U$D 1″= U$D 1/ each

Jeff,

Yes, I’ve heard of assassination politics. I read about it at anti-state.com and it didn’t sit well with me. It seemed designed to terrorize people and commit murder against civil servants. I found it morally abhorrent.

But if you set up the system for, say, foreign terrorists, it could be a fine alternative to the current system. Tradesports.com already has futures contacts for capture/kills of top terrorist leaders. Saddam’s Capture/Kill and Zarqawi’s capture/kill both saw their prices go up shortly BEFORE their capture and death, respectively. It’s more of a predictive market, but the concept is similar.
