I wonder if the TSA still requires that passengers flying in and out of Reagan National remain steated for the first (or last, if arriving) 30 minutes of the flight. Last time I flew into DCA, some years ago (post 9-11) that was the case.
After what happened in Miami we should all act like frightened sheep.
Last time I flew from D.C. to Wisconsin (flew home for last Thanksgiving break from classes at GMU), somebody got up within the first half hour after leaving DCA. It was my understanding that if such happened the plane would be redirected to some other (unnamed) airport. No such redirection occured in this case, though.
Maybe the rule has changed?
My (Oz)travel agent innocently booked me (from Toronto) to Reagan National, on the grounds it was closer to DC than Dulles. I got to Toronto airport earlier than I thought I needed to. Not so. All luggage went through an X-ray machine, then it was hand-searched. Then before boarding, all passengers were searched & ‘wanded’ — again, while carry-on luggage was handsearched. What do your rulers think they are? Lords of the universe?
No, not the universe, just the earth, for now. To rule the universe you probably need to invade other planets, install democracy and make more fiat money to fund it.
“After what happened in Miami we should all act like frightened sheep.”
In a free, armed society, we would all tread a bit more lightly. I doubt, in such a society, lunatics who screamed on planes would be treated very tolerantly.
Steamship, what makes you think that the victim in Miami was a ‘lunatic’? And are you actually implying that in a ‘free, armed society’ such ‘lunatics’ would be murdered by a private citizen simply out of annoyance?
Specific accounts differ, but the man apparently ran off the plane yelling about a bomb. His family says he suffered from bipolar disorder.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I’d definitely reach for a firearm if I saw a man with a backpack yelling about a bomb. More trigger happy people would probably proceed to fire.
“And are you actually implying that in a ‘free, armed society’ such ‘lunatics’ would be murdered by a private citizen simply out of annoyance??
People kill other people simply out of annoyance all the time.
How long do you think a lot of thugs, pedophiles and insane vagrants that we are currently forced to abide and subsidize would last in a truly and armed society?
Steamship, such individuals as kill others “out of annoyance” would weed themselves out of the population very quickly.
“Insane vagrants”? Does this feed back to your rejection of “immigration”?
Curt,
In a way it does, since immigrants trying to cross a privately owned border without paying for the privilege would be shot as trespassers.
To elaborate, there would be no “homeless problem” in a libertarian society since all property would be privately owned. Vagrants with no employment or lodging would be run out of town.
