Hoppe in Bayreuth

May 27, 2005 by

Hans-Hermann Hoppe will speak at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, at the Ludwig von Mises Lecture, May 31, 2005. Here is the promotional flyer. His topic: “Monarchie, Demokratie und die Idee einer natürlichen Ordnung,” is based on the paper in English here.

Dear Mises Institute,

I don’t see any articles on this, but today is the vote in France on a new centralising European treaty, called the “EU constitution”.

There is a big chance the NO-vote is going to win, which is going to be a big defeat of the centralising European politicians.

Moreover, wednesdag in the Netherlands, there is also a referendum on it, and the no-vote is even more sure there. But never underestimate the eurocrats, though.

The urge to vote NO in the Netherlands is strong. Although the government has waged a fanatical campaign for the yes vote most of the people here in Holland don’t take them serious.

“Our” justice and law minister, Jan Hein Donner, has even said that WWIII might happen if we would vote against this new treaty. And “our” prime minister said that we had to vote yes to avoid another Auschwitz!

So what’s the reason the Dutch vote no? I’m afraid I don’t know much about Dutch economy. Can you enlighten us?

The vote is on a new centralising European treaty. It is so clear that it is a bureaucratic monster, and the Netherlands are a country proud of their tradition of freedom.
