I like this:

“The money would also be used to pay for a national education campaign.”

In another area, I think they were going to tax drinks companies to pay for damage caused by drunk people, and their health care costs when they get into brawls. How dare they sell alcohol to people and make them drink too much!
Honestly, if they had to pay for every time they got beaten up…

Hmm…the UK. Wasn’t it the high taxes in England that inspired the great old Beatles’ tune “Taxman”? “We’ll tax your seat, street, feet…etc.”

I propose a cigarette filter tax. Can’t go anyplace without seeing ciggybutts on the ground. Use the money to sweep the streets.

I propose a British Stupidity Tax (BST). Anyone who proposes yet another tax must pay a penny. The money collected will be used to pay for a national education campaign on how taxation is evil and destructive, except in the instance of the BST, in which in a best case scenario will fade into obscurity when the taxoholics are cleansed from society.
