Too bad the Salvation Army will probably just exchange that gold for fiat.
I think someone around there would be smart enough to either hold on to the gold or trade it with someone else (for fiat or whatever) who seems smart enough to not let the bankers get it back.
If enough such gold-traders could be found for this collection of coins, that would be one more nail in the fiat coffin. In fact, I’d bet an Austrian-at-heart is the coin plopper, someone who hopes that an well-connected organization like the Sally Ann might be a plausible opportunity for new (old) currency markets to push out old (new) ones.
Sweet. Can I have a job there?
How about a revolution?
It should be possible to create, say, ‘memorial coins’ for collectors and similar individuums from gold or other valuable metal(s).
If available in sufficient quantity, these could be used as money, and over time possibly replace the fiat currency. It does sound to me like an economical study.
