Jack Kemp quotes the “great classical economist Ludwig von Mises.” Also, EconomyProfessor.com has an item on Mises.

Of course its great to see Mises mentioned in the press. However, Jack Kemp referring to him as a “classical economist” is not accurate and could be misleading. Mises’s economic thought is in the Austrian School tradition that was formally initiated by Carl Menger, a tradition that Mises significantly expanded and refined. As Austrian economists realize, there are some substantial fundamental differences between the Austrian School and classical economics. And since the Kemp article appears in a politically oriented publication, as far as political economy/policy is concerned, Mises may best be characterized (in Rothbard’s words) as a “Laissez-Faire Radical” and “a rationalist and a libertarian”, terms that don’t often mesh well with modern conservatism.
Yes, every positive mention of von Mises in the press is deserved and to be welcomed. It is too bad that so few of the sources for those mentions understand how radical and right he was.
The article on economyprofessor.com does say that he has been vindicated by history, an assessment that should only expand in scope over time.
Jack Kemp, the ardent supply sider and psuedo gold standard advocate praising Von Mises or anything Austrian is laughable and borders on the sacreligous.
Mr. Kemp is another statist who borrows concepts and drops context.
