Jörg Guido Hülsmann Leaves for France

July 29, 2004 by

Jörg Guido Hülsmann , senior fellow of the Mises Institute in residence, has accepted a tenured faculty position in economics at the University of Angers, in the department of Law, Economics, and Management. This fall he will be teaching two classes: monetary economics and macroeconomics.

His new department offers a BA and a Master in economics, as well as various other degrees in both law and management. The University of Angers also hosts a doctoral school, which is open to economists and thus allows students to get their PhD under the direction of Professor Hülsmann. Admission to the doctoral school is possible for ABDs and other students with at least five years of university training.

Angers is a charming city of some 150,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the ancient region of Anjou, which produced many French and English kings.

This is truly wonderful news, and something that couldn’t happen to a more deserving ‘Austrian.’

I am honestly a bit sad that Dr. Huelsmann is leaving the US. For one, we need more of his debonair, multilingual kind ’round these parts.

But what a great job!
