IEA is holding another fantastic event, this time on the legacy of Mises, with Eamonn Butler of the Adam Smith Institute speaking. But it is tomorrow, so make plans now.

Unfirtunately I was not able to read your blog or any other Mises blogs. Apparently I need some kind of reader service that I don’t yet understand. Not to worry. I will get help.

I did, however, read an article written by Llewellyn H. Rockwell Jr. in 2002 titled ” Is the Gold Standar History? “. For many reasons I found it to be an excellant piece of work. In this article he taked about how difficult it was to convince the powers that be to see the merits of returning to the gold standard. He was, however, confident that, in the long term, the powers that be would have no choice. The implication being that eventually the worlds monetary system would collapse in a world- wide depression after which the powers that be would wake up. Furhter he characterized the Ludweg von Mise Institute as having a great deal of patiences. That is a commodity of which I have very little. My view of the current situattion is the the concepts of Austrian economics in general and the gold standard in specific need to be implemented urgently and the Ludweg von Mise Institute should take even more of the lead. I understand that it is not an easy sell; but selling is exactly what is lacking in my opinion. One may have the best ide in the world but if one doesn’t do an adiquate job of SELLING, whose fault is it if the intended customers doesn’t buy it. Could it be possible that the Institute needs to look for new ways to package their ideas? Also it may be helpful to look for ways to find new audiances. Preaching to the choir all the time is not going to get us where we want to go.

Well, just some thoughts frrom an ol dog. Please pass my best whises to everyone at the Institue. We the people desperately need them even if we don’t all realize it.

Eamonn Butler wrote a primer on Ludwig von Mises. Has anyone read it?
