Author/filmmaker, J. Neil Schulman, today announced his intention to file a lawsuit for copyright infringement of his 1979 novel, Alongside Night, which tells the story of the collapse of the American economy due to massive government overspending and the issuing of unbacked money and credit to pay the interest on the national debt.
Schulman intends to name the United States government as his primary defendant. According to Schulman, “The United States government — both the executive and legislative branches, aided by the courts, have stolen the entire premise — and a lot of the plot — of my novel!”
Schulman also intends to name, as co-defendants in his copyright infringement lawsuit, the Federal Reserve Bank, the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, General Motors, and the country of Greece….

Oh, that’s delightful. Hopefully it’ll be an educational bit of theatre.
Wow, my mind flipped inside-out several times as I was reading the second paragraph. I love this!
It’s a great book too!
All the world’s govt people are but players, and all the govt is a LARP of Shulman’s novel.
I think it will fail due to prior art.
…or is that patents?
It is. Prior art is not sufficient to negate copyright holdings, unless it can be shown the person directly got their idea from another work.
Schulman wrote a novel. The U.S. Government is engaged in performance art, and on a large scale.
Copyright protects us from the scourge of derivative works, too.
Great troll, or greatest troll?
yeah, it’s a problem today. but we have do many thing to deal with them.so don’t worry .

LOL.
We the people of the internet have our own laws and common courtesies that we feel are important. The recent cases of hacking large corporations are evidence enough that we do not identify with “their” idea of right and wrong among many other things.
I won’t claim to be the smartest person ever. I am a lowly chef and I am fine with that. I am also a programmer in my free time and a hacktivist. If the govt of the US continues on this way, they will remain standing in front of a smoking pile that was once Hollywood. Do not push the people because we are many.
