An acquaintance passed on to me this PDF file of a Powerpoint presentation on global warming by MIT Professor Richard S. Lindzen. As my friend said, “it is a powerful rebuttal to those who are sure that humans are causing global warming.” The file is: Global Warming: What is it all about?, Rockhurst University, February 11, 2009.

Very nice! Thanks!
It would be interesting to have a survey of those involved in the debate, scientists, journalists and politicians, of their economic views. I would bet that the correlation between climate hysteria a socialism is quite high.
Fundamentalist, it’s fear.
Fear that things aren’t “fair”, fear that the world is going to overheat and everyone is going to die, fear that without strong government regulation then self centered people will “abuse” others, fear fear fear.
Socialism is the politics of fear. Socialism is based upon frightening people into giving up freedom.

General info on the good professor.
Fundamentalist and Curt:
I see it more as a control issue. The socialist elite believe that they know what is best for everyone else. The religious aspect is also inescapable – Google “Rabbi Daniel Lapin”. It also provide an excuse for more government intervention and higher taxes.

This is an excellent presentation. However, it is out of date. It predates the Lindzen and Choi (August 2009) paper and the recent “Climategate” scandal.

So Lindzen did some research for Exxon Mobil . So what? Al Gore’s father, Senator Albert Gore, was funded by Armand Hammer and Occidental Petroleum (Hence his oxy-moron nickname). Al Gore grew up on a tobacco farm that received subsidies (that Al Gore has never paid back.)
Go to HuffingtonPost and find out who in Congress has received political contributions from Big Oil.
Pretty sure some said: “The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it.”
When and where will the next big lie occur: Job creation, our economy, or the financial and monetary systems?
Walt D.
Just trying to giver perspective. Both sides have a lot of $$ at stake.

Yeh, remember the propaganda science about Science proving Jews were an inferior RACE.
That Science resulted in the incineration of nearly 3 million people. But the German, and other, people during the time accepted the Scientific Consensus as TRUTH and let it happen.
Sure glad we’ve advanced intellectually not to let Scientific/Political manipulation get in the way of our beliefs.
Something about maintaining and OPEN MIND, or something like that…….
“The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present — and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1961
One excellent solution to future population concerns as well as alleviating many of the effects of potential global warming is the proposal for the construction of the “Trans Global Highway”. The proposed Trans Global Highway would create a world wide network of standardized roads, railroads, water pipe lines, oil and gas pipelines, electrical and communication cables. The result of this remarkable, far sighted project will be global unity through far better distribution of resources, including heretofore difficult to obtain or unaccessible raw materials, fresh water, finished products and lower global transportation costs.
With greatly expanded global fresh water distribution, arid lands could be cultivated resulting in a huge abundance of global food supplies. The most conservative estimate is that with the construction of the Trans Global Highway, the planet will be able to feed several billion more people, using presently available modern farming technologies. With the present global population of just under 7 billion people and at the United Nations projection of population increase, the world will produce enough food surpluses to feed the expected increased population for several hundred years.
Thomas Robert Malthus’s famous dire food shortage predictions of 1798 and his subsequent books, over the next 30 years, failed to take into consideration modern advances in farming, transportation, food storage and food abundance. Further information on the proposed Trans Global Highway can be found at http://www.TransGlobalHighway.com .
I underestand that NASA has been sued to produce data on this subject. First, if that is true what exact data is being sought, or was gotten, and (2) Where will we get data when NASA is shut down? (I suppose we can get data from weather baloons?)
Follow-on question: On greenhouse warming is that not principally caused by particles making direct contact with matter inside the greenhouse with the green house mostly trapping the indirectly heated mini-atmosphere? That is, are the flat-earthers not attempting to prove something that doesn’t happen in an important way? Glass is amorphous and traps heated gas well, but CO2 is a gas and traps less because of the density.
