The Cuff Links Are In

June 17, 2009 by

The trend in an economic downturn is counter intuitive: dressing up with elegance and elan is the means by which your personal value is enhanced in the eyes of the world, and a subtle touch like gleaming cuff links can make the difference.

When we started working on this project, cuff links had not yet made their roaring comeback but it was a good call: shirts with cuffs are selling at the highest level in half a century. That means that excellence in cuff links is at a premium.

And yet even we hadn’t anticipated how magnificently beautiful these would turn out to be. To state is plainly, your jaw will drop at the sheer splendor of these. LVMI is imprinted in black on these silver-plated cuff links, revealing your private attachment to science in the service of liberty.

They will immediately become a great source of pride for the owner.

The quality is exceptional in every way — very hefty and sharp looking, with a polished finish.

They are packaged in their own carrying case with built in magnet so they do not get misplaced.

You are quite the salesman!

Jeffrey Tucker June 17, 2009 at 9:53 am

Well, not really, it’s just that these are really cool. I can recall not having a high view of cuff links but times have changed and now shirts cry out for them. And these have that proprietary quality that make them meaningful beyond just being jewelry on a shirt.

So now I need to buy cuff-link shirts… anyone have recommendations?

ShedPlant June 17, 2009 at 10:03 am

Only silver plated?

The Men’s Wearhouse has a big summer sale on right now, and the shirts are marked down pretty nicely. Wrinkle free french cuff shirts are running around $40 or $45.

Jeffrey,

Those look very nice but I was wondering if you were planning to have some cufflinks with the Mises Shield?

When you need to tell the world I was right about everything, but are too much of a gentlemen to say it aloud, say it with the LvMI cufflinks.

Alex Mullins June 17, 2009 at 1:45 pm

Ohh man!!!! Just in time!!!! I have a job interview in 2 weeks and these cuffs would look great!!

Brooks Brothers shirts are a good deal when on sale. They even have these wonderful machine washable ones that will pay for itself in a few months in dry cleaning savings.

Silver-plated. Better than nickel, but really that should have been solid sterling silver or solid gold…

jeffrey June 18, 2009 at 5:33 am

@ABOM, are we not economically informed? Of course it is fine to say that all cuff links should be gold or solid silver, that all books should be bound in leather, that all buildings should be made of marble and the streets should be paved with gold. the question is: at the expense of what? So, it’s true, that we could have had gold cufflinks made but did you want to pay $1,500 for a pair, or $450 for silver or whatever it would be? Think about the tradeoffs buddy. In any case, these cuff links are fancier and weightier than any you see at the department store — mighty impressive.

This is cool…great design, Jeff. Really classy.
I also like the Mises crest on a cuff link…First the Rothbard flask and now this…

What about a Mises.org chrome hubcab spinners? Seriously! That’s really got to be pimpin’. I mean as you drive into the faculty garage or whatever, you can intimidate those Keynesians, socialists and marxists with your shiny Mises.org spinners!!

Hi guys,

The LVMI cufflinks look really cool. Here In the UK, even the ladies are starting to wear cufflinks now. Especially in the City where you find all the powersuits, some ladies like to add a bit of femininity to their shirt with a pair of cufflinks. My wife recently bought a pair of these

We saw a similar pair for sale in the US for $65 so they are a bargain!

The next job is finding good ladies shirts with cufflink sleeves!
